Last night, downtown Salmon Arm came alive for the 2024 Santa Parade and Christmas Tree Lightup, and it all wrapped up with the tree lighting right after Santa’s grand arrival on a fire truck! Happening just steps away from The Dark Room studio at 251 Alexander Street NE, the event was an unforgettable way to kick off the holiday season.
The night started with a vibrant parade winding down Lakeshore Drive, filled with glowing lights, festive music, and community spirit. Parade participants like Coldest Night of the Year, Bounce Radio, Shuswap Trail Alliance, LASS (Literacy Alliance of the Shuswap Society), Shuswap Family Centre, SPCA, Rotary Club, Property Guys, Mel Arnold, Yetti Rugby, and Connect Wireless really brought the holiday cheer, showing off creative floats and decorations. Each entry was unique and full of personality, making it a treat for everyone watching.
A standout moment of the parade? The adorable Santa-hat-wearing puppy that had everyone smiling! From glowing Christmas lights to festive outfits, there was something for everyone to enjoy. And, of course, the night wouldn’t have been complete without Santa himself making a grand entrance on a fire truck, waving to the crowd and spreading holiday magic.
The big finale came as the Christmas tree lit up downtown, right by the iconic musical note sculpture on Lakeshore Drive. The crowd gathered around to watch the lights come to life, creating a stunning end to an already magical evening.
